General Pathology

General Pathology

Pathology is a branch of medical science primarily concerning the cause, origin and nature of disease. It involves the examination of tissues, organs, bodily fluids and autopsies in order to study and diagnose disease.
General pathology describes a complex and broad field that involves the study of the mechanisms behind cell and tissue injury, as well as understanding how the body responds to and repairs injury.
The main reason that dental students learn about pathology is because they need to know what healthy tissue looks like, and recognize the signs of oral diseases and other problems. This is not only because these issue can create complications during a dental procedure and may alter how they are performed, but sometimes they will be serious enough to need a referral to an Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist.
The Department of General Pathology has excelled in providing quality education, by elaborate theory and practical classes in state of art laboratory facilities, seminars and case studies. Our faculty deliver their duties as facilitators and mentors to undergraduate and post graduate students, in different branches of Pathology like clinical pathology, Histopathology and cytology.
