Oral hygiene day is celebrated across India on August 1st to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. G B Shankwalkar, the doyen of Periodontics in India. On the occasion of Oral Hygiene Day 2024, a Dental Treatment and Oral screening camp was held at the St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Christian Chapel, Kakkattupara, on August 11th 2024. The event was organized by St Mary’s Youth Association in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Annoor Dental College and Hospital, with the aim of educating participants on maintaining proper oral hygiene and preventing dental diseases. The following events were conducted at the camp:
• Oral screening was performed on patients.
• Treatment was provided to patients in the treatment van.
• Toothpaste was distributed.
All patients were provided with a referral card to avail further treatment at the college. The Oral Hygiene Day Camp was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation from the community. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing a renewed commitment to improving their oral health.
