Public Health Dentistry
The department of Public Health Dentistry is functioning since the inception of the institution in the year 2003. Public Health Dentistry is that branch of dentistry which provides exposure and expertise among the BDS students in the field of population-based dentistry, oral health surveillance and community-based disease prevention strategies for oral health promotion. The main focus is on the oral health problems of the communities rather than individual patients.
The Department strives for the betterment of oral health related quality of life of the community – towards an attainment of an accessible, affordable and quality oral health to all.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art MOBILE DENTAL VAN with a fully functioning dental unit through which various oral healthcare services are made available to the community on regular basis.
There are TWO SATELLITE CENTRES which provide services to the patients in rural areas.
FREE CHECK-UP CAMPS, TREATMENT CAMPS, AWARENESS PROGRAMS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES are conducted to reach out to the community in providing the oral health care that is affordable and accessible.
Also, important HEALTH DAYS like World Cancer Day, World Health Day, World Oral Health Day, World No Tobacco Day, Diabetes Day, AIDS day etc., are observed and HEALTH EXHIBITIONS and awareness programs are conducted to sensitize the public regarding oral health as well as general health.
The department offers statistical consultancy to the UG and PG students and also assists them in research activities.
